Also, feel free to challenge my opinions which I have posted underneath the interview. I would be very interested to hear what this community has to say Smile

When asked by GamerZines last week as to whether DICE recognised Modern Warfare 2 as being the one to beat when it comes to online shooters, Bach replied:

"A lot of people ask us about Modern Warfare and they compare us to Modern Warfare, so when we answer questions about that it will sometimes sound like we are competing directly against them.

"I think a lot of people on executive levels see that as a goal, that we will beat Modern Warfare."

But Bach doesn't necessarily agree with that philosophy himself.

"To me it's not beating, it's showing that you can do things differently and to a high quality while delivering both a single-player and multiplayer game.

"Please go ahead and compare us but please don't see it as the same game because we're not trying to be that game. We're doing Battlefield things here, we're trying to do the game that we want to do."

Judging by our hands-on with the game, Bad Company 2 certainly has potential to give Modern Warfare 2 a run for its money, but how many of you are planning on switching to Battlefield come March?

You can take a look at our hands-on preview of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in Issue 35 of P3Zine, released this Thursday, if you still need convincing.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 launches in Europe on March 5th on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Do you believe they will do so? Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, by gamers and critics alike. In the first 2 months of it being relesed, it became the fourth best selling game of all time. I, personally, think that EA are getting a bit too big headed to succeed. They are churning out new games and sequels to games in quick succession, and to be honest, I don'tthink that the standard of these games are good enough. They seem to be more focused on bringing out new titles and making money than actually refining their end product into something the consumer will eventually cherish as his favorite game. This may make the long lasting fan base for EA that some of us have had completely disappear. They're becoming Infinity Ward. Riding on the waves of previous success, and now that those waves are coming into the shore they're beginning to be revealed as a company that is too big for it's own good.
BFBC 2 will NEVER beat Modern Warfare 2 in sales volume. It is the next game in the series of a classic franchise of games. Long live the Call of Duty series! Smile^

Remember, these are just my views on this topic, so don't flame me please. Remember, I would always LOVE to hear your opinions on this, even if you couldn't be bothered to read it all! :p
Remember this too, there are no stupid comments, just stupid people. Smile

Actually, BC2 will be the seventh game in the series (not including all the different editions and versions). The first one came out back in 1999. lol.

I'll be switching to BFBC2, i've always preffered the BF series to COD.

I love the open gameplay and the sandbox environments, not to mention the variety in vehicles & ways to play the game.

I doubt that they'll beat MW2 in sales though, but the interview doesn't actualy say that so i don't know where the misquote comes from.

You know what I think Mw2 is a Bunch of Bullshit,
1st. THE HACKERS
2nd. THE BOOSTERS
3rd. CoD4 still is Better.
4th.Painkiller
5th.Commando
6th.Over Powered Killstreaks.
7th.Snipers Should be one shot one kill.
8th.I think they worked on graphics more than gameplay.
9th.Made it so different that their fans don't like it anymore
10th.hope the makers of BCFC2 PwN Infinity Ward

---------- Post added at 07:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:39 AM ----------

and one more thing PC Gamers have been waiting for this.

Y'ello!

I just wanted to point out, I've played both of the franchises alot. Since I want to be sincere, I have to say that I've played BF-games more than COD.
However, now when I've tried both MWII and BCII, I still have to say thast BCII is better... alot.
In many ways MWII is a solo-players campfest, Jeez is there any tactical play between players online?
I find the graphics to be better in BCII, if you take in consideration the sheer size of the maps. Yes they're not bigger than alot of the previous BF-games, but hey, they're alot more intense.
I'll not acknowledge this gaming experience of MWII, I loved it. But STILL BCII has made me drop it(!).
Now onto the sales... I don't give a damn! I fear and believe that MWII will kick BCIIs ass when it comes to sales, but they precious "few" that buy it will be granted a true blessing. So PLEASE before ranting about one or the other, try both, since after all, both games are awesome!
And btw, I don't care about EA, DICE are the true masters here (they're Swedes after all) and that such a "tiny" company can take on IW is truly of a biblical scale!

Secondly, here's the release dates of the BF games (since the other EA-games doesn't matter, we're talking BF here):

Codename Eagle (the fore-runner) - 31th March 2000

Battlefield 1942 - 10th September 2002

Battlefield 1942: Road to Rome (Expansion) - 2nd February 2003

Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of World War II (Expansion) - 4th September 2003

Battlefield Vietnam - 16th March 2004

Battlefield 2 - 21st June 2005

Battlefield: Modern Combat (a console version (basically)) - 24th October 2005

Battlefield 2: Special Forces (expansion) - 21st November 2005

Battlefield 2: Euro Force (expansion) - 15th March 2006

Battlefield 2: Armored Fury (expansion) - 6th June 2006

Battlefield 2142 (personal favourite GaspHappy) - 17th October 2006

Battlefield 2142: Northern Strike (expansion) - 8th March 2007

Battlefield: Bad Company (note: only for PS3 & Xbox360) - 23rd June 2008

Battlefield Heroes (a free to play cartoon shooter) - 25th June 2009

Battlefield 1943 (only for PS3 & Xbox360) - 8th July 2009

Battlefield: Bad Company II - 5th March 2010

Battlefield 1943 (PC-version) - Q1/2 2010 T.B.A.

And I've played every single one!

As a finale, if you check the average scores on (eg) GameSpot, you'll see that all Battlefield games average higher than all Call of Duty. MWII with a score of 9.0 doesn't beat B2 with 9.3 Winky Winky
