Hey NGU,
I have a ps3 slim, and recently my games are starting to freeze like crazy specifically BO2, and sometimes GTA V, is there any solution for this ? What can I do it is getting annoying freezing while playing a game.
Thanks
If it's disc based games freezing up a lot, try giving the eye a good cleaning, the process is quite involved so I suggest looking up videos on how to do that. Most people tell you one thing or another to use to clean the eye but I've never had an issue using Isopropyl Alcohol 99%, it's the one I use, others I know use 91% and a few just use rubbing alcohol with no issues, I'd prefer being safe and going with the 99% Isopropyl, there are also videos you can look up on that in order to figure out a "safe" solution to use to clean the eye itself. If the games are digital and installed to the drive it could have bad sectors or be in the process of dying. My original drive started that about a week before it just died. Games would sometimes run no issue for a few hours and then freeze, other times they'd freeze in a few minutes. One night I was playing Rainbow Moon and I heard a "clunk" and the system black screened and refused to boot back up. Restore Filesystem/Rebuild Database generally fixes most of the little issues.. but you may just have to reformat the entire drive and start fresh. Another thing to check out, if you have a couple blu ray movies, try playing them a couple times and see if it ever freezes, same goes with putting a few on the hard drive and seeing if they freeze up. If they freeze up while playing them on the hard drive.. there's a fairly good shot that's the issue, at the same time, if movies play but games freeze the laser could be half dead and it's time for a replacement. I'd suggest cleaning the eye or formatting the hard drive at some point regardless. I do it every 6 months. Alas my eye has finally started dying after 4 years. Not a bad shelf life, I suppose. Good luck.
