(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi ngu members, I'm looking at getting an external HDD I have chosen to pick from the 2tb 2.0/3.0usb hdd or the 3tb 3.0usb HDD will the ps3 be able to use these so I know which one to choose? So will ps3 be able to use (3.0)3tb hdd or (2.0/3.0)2tb hdd ? Or are they to big for external?

A external HDD can be till 2TB. The PS3 does not support more than 2TB! I've got a 1,5TB HDD with USB 3.0 but USB 3.0 is useless because the PS3 only supports USB 2.0 so the HDD will be 'downgraded' when you attach it to the PS3 but 3.0 is nice is you want to copy your games to the HDD. You can also use a NTFS HDD with a simple PKG from the maker of MM but I didn't tried it and when you do that you can only play PS3 and Blu Ray Discs. My HDD is on FAT32 pretty anoying with the 4GB limit but yeah.

:stop: NOT TRUE M8, size does matter with the PS3!!!!! Would be a waste if the HDD is larger than 2 TB

I have tried and looked around for this particular answer and yet I and others on here cannot get over the 2tb hump.
We have used Acronis and Fat32formatter to format the HDD and still only less than 2tb are allocated.
So, please if you are not using CobraCFW, enlighten me on how you got your 4tb external HDD to work? I would be delighted to know!
YES, I always research and test, before I open my big mouth Cheesy

Theoretically any drive up to 8TB should work since thats the biggest drive size that you can use FAT32 with (Well according to MS). PS3 doesnt have an actual limit

That is the thing I have used a few tools to format my 3tb external and cannot get more than 2Tb. What program do you use?
I've used FAT32Formatter, Acronis and Windows to format my drive to FAT32.
Thanks 1up!
