(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hello all. Today, my problem is this: Recenty, my PS3 laser died and I didn't have a replacement so I just took it out. I realize that I can still play digital games installed via HDD. I gameshared GTA V from my friend since I sold mine a couple months ago, however I don't have a Dualshock 3 controller yet. I used my Dualshock 4 controller to install the game, and I wanted to run the game to make sure everything was fine etc. and download the newest update. However, when I click ok to download the 1.15 update, I get a black screen.

Now, I remember that if you didn't have the correct bluray drive and tried to start a game on your PS3, it would run a check and your screen would turn black because the check came back as failed. Now what I am asking, if I can start GTA V fine, that means my bluray is fine. However, since my bluray laser isnt connected inside the ps3, is that what is causing the black screen? Is it running a check and finding my laser isn't there so the update doesn't start?

P.S. When I get the black screen, my PS3 hard freezes. Even the reset button doesn't turn it off. I have to unplug it.

Thanks.
