Well.. Have you tried other port? Does it show in multiman but not xmb? Does the USB port you are using charge your PS3 controller?

I've tried both ports. It does not show in either XMB or Multiman. The USB Port I use to charge my PS3 controller is the left part therefore no. :\

You have to make sure the USB is FAT32. I recommend trying a new usb, most usb's are already FAT32 but some are not.

if its a new usb, then u will need to format it to fat32 becuase thats the filesystem the ps3 will read, if its still no showing just plug it into the right usb port and that should fix it...

extra there is a way to make multiman read ntfs filesystem but i kinda forgot, if u want to try that just google its pretty easy.
