PS3 FAT 80GB 4.75 OFW

I was playing MW2 single player mission offline I was playing for maybe 45 - 60mins then my PS3 shut down with a red flashing light then when I press the power button on my PS3 it stopped flashing red. And after that its was just a solid red light then it turned on fine it done the restore file system because it didn't turn off properly so I tried MW2 again it lasted maybe 20 - 30mins it happened again. So I tried GTA5 played on it for maybe an hour without any issues. So what i am asking is it the game or my PS3 and has anyone else had the same problem because I have had that PS3 for 7 years and its never happened before.

Your ps3 is clearly consuming loads of power whilst playing mw2 (for some reason) which then causes your ps3 to overheat. New paste and a file system rebuild should cure this problem. Follow this thread to indicate exactly what flashing light you get and what it means. You must login or register to view this content.

Thanks I was thinking it might be heat that's why I tried GTA because I know its a demanding game. I didn't want to take it apart though because my CFW got a CID BAN recently and its the only way I can play online at the min but thanks for all the info

Well first of all you have to open your console.

Here's a tutorial how to replace the thermal paste, you have to know if you are able to do it bro.

I have taken apart PC's, laptop's, a PS3 Slim to clean internal dust it was easy. Hardest thing I done was built a PC from scratch to but never been inside a FAT PS3 I might just clean the internal dust for now until I get a new CID for my CFW. Then I think I will have to replace the thermal paste thanks again helped me out 2 days in a row last time it was a noob question lol this one is a lil more serious

That sounds good bro, i guess you are able to do it by yourself. Just let me know if you need any assistants.
