Had to use an adapter, which was expensive. Safe to say online play wasn't too big on PS2, except for games like SOCOM and such. PS2 was the end of couch coop, with PS3 bringing online coop.

There is no source to answer whether this is true or not, but most likely not.

probably fine that they will stop manufacturing PS3 Units and games as of the end of this year which is around the time ps2 manufacturing stopped if i remember correctly, but there will still be plenty of units in circulation for a few more years same with games so doesn't really matter as for servers i don't expect they will be cut though a lot for game servers will get cut, anyone know anything on a ps4 slim possibility later this year or next? (before anyone corrects me, remember this is not confirmed fact it's an assumption and with the PS3 no longer getting manufactured for NZ it's showing that what support left manufacturing wise is ending)

Very unlikely, there are many online gamers on PS3, even if the servers were closed in the coming years, Sony would be on a media trial, they would be bombarded with online gamers criticizing the company.
