It really depends what kind of "brick" you have.. We would need to know what happened to the console before it stopped working. Whats the story?

I followed a old post on how to change from cex to dex , I managed to change the Target Type to dex but when I wanted to change the LV2 Kernel the screen went blank ..when I switched over to another Tv,the option for choosing whether you want it on HDMI or not shows on my screen and when I press yes or no it goes blank

you would prob need to re flash your nor with a e3 flasher if you have the original backup still

The guy that tried to repair it said that he reflashed it but when loading the software it goes half way

It sounds like you might have a Hard drive problem .....in this particular instance id take it back to "THE GUY" and tell him its not fixed ....but i think you may need a new hard drive .
Now it is also possible that when you do your firmware update that you will have to use a Dex .PUP

So the ps3 was running perfectly fine before trying to switch to DEX?

Yes the console was perfect until I tried to change it to DEX...il install one of them to see if I can save my ps3
