I tryed to update to 3.55 last night via usb... and now im stuck in a update loop... i cannot get LV2.Diag to put it into service mode and i cannot get it put in recovery mode... will some one help me fix this??? please!

2 options:
1. Get a new HDD/Format the HDD with your PC. Try it again.

2. Pull the hard drive after the update begins , but before it errors out. You will get a different error. Turn off your PS3 and turn it back on/off without the HDD. Put the HDD back and restart.

I have heard of both working.

ok i have a extra 80 gig HDD laying around here from a old dell laptop would that work? and also im gunna try the pull the HDD out during update... please stay online to help me lol

Try the old hard drive first. I should have put a disclaimer, it may mess up the HDD.

ahh man it just caught fire!!!!! jk lol im waiting for it to get close to 66% then ill pull.. so do i just pull it out at 65%? it always fails at 66%

Do it now so it breaks the cycle. Before 65%

ok so im yanking it at 18% as of right now!!!! ok so its out and its still installing lol its at 34%


edit: okay now i have "an error occured during update operation."
remaining time 50 seconds... error 8002f042

Wait for it to error out. As soon as it needs to read the HD it will.

ok so the HD is still out and it restarted but nothing came up then it shut off.. so what do i do now sir.

That is still an update loop error code. It should have given you a Grey screen and said "A serious error has occured"


Try your other hard drive. If that doesnt work. Try original harddrive, but pull it when it start s doing the update and the HDD read light is flashing. Its the yellow light on the left of the console( I assume it s a fat?) Gotta go, have a meeting. Good luck.
