It says that it is in demonstration mode and it needs the software update, so we downloaded it and tried to install it but then we get an error code of 8002F2E4. I read on another site that it means it's for demo only and their directions say to go to the XMB to enter some code, but I can't get to XMB because it won't let me get past the error screen or the screen telling me to update the software. Any suggestions???
If you ever come back, the best guess to fix this is to do this. On a USB flash drive, create a folder and call it PS3. Go inside that folder, and make another one, and call this one UPDATE. Then go inside that folder, and go to Sony's official website, and find their most recent firmware at 3.72 and download it. Once it's downloaded, place that firmware in the UPDATE folder. (Spell these folders EXACTLY the way I have it, but without the periods.)
Go to the XMB, and it should have system update located under system settings. Plug your USB into the USB slot, and it will ask you two options. Install via internet, or install via USB. Install via USB. I believe that will solve the problem, if it doesn't, feel free to come back and post again and ask for more help. :y:
Edit: If anyone knows how to get rid of a Demo Mode PS3, feel free to post. That was my asnwer. Not 100% sure if it'll work though.
