(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); okay so i bought a SATA to IDE adapter to see if i can use a small old HDD on my ps3 and it works!! << pointless but i have noticed if you format a new drive to use with the PS3 it goes through and all but when the ps3 Turns off you need to Power cycle the PS3 HDD.. anybody out there has a clue as to why?

ALSO

just found out if you swap the first couple of sectors from a PS3 HDD to another PS3 hdd using winhex the ps3 recongnizes it as its own but says it needs to be restored but upon restoring it fails and needs to be formatted.. Maybe because I am using two different size hdd??? and i think two diff fw.

no not just normally swapping it. changing sectors on the hdd disk makes the system think it is its own and tries to reformat it.. there is some sort of algorithm because if you use an 80 gb then all other 80gb ps3 hdd when formatted have the same string if formatted with the same console. but when i used an 60gb (one that i found in another broken ps3) it had a different string when formatted
