I'm just wondering how they're able to get online and host the mods. Do they have 2 PS3's or use some app that spoofs?

I can't say anything for sure, but I'm pretty sure they have two PS3's, the jailbroken 3.55 and the updated 4.20.
I haven't used a jailbroken ps3 in a looong time, so everything might be different ^^

Like the user said above, many have 2 PS3s, one being on 3.55 and the other being on the latest update. Other people only have one PS3 on 3.55 and just wait for a spoofer to be released to go online.

They put all their patches and anything else they want on the 3.55 PS3 and then data transfer to their latest updated PS3. Then they can host online.

Yh you need one jailbroken and the other not jailbroken then transfer something i saw it on youtube or you could just buy another 3.55 and dont use the new one

this may sound like a dumb question, but how would i be able to get the patches onto the 3.55 PS3 if it cannot connect to the PSN? i understand the 3.55 to the updated PS3 though. and can you still do this with 4.21 because ive been told that it does not work anymore

Your 3.55 doesn't need to be connected to PSN to put patches on it. Transferring patches is done through blackb0x. And what do you mean "do this with 4.21"?

sorry i wasnt too clear. all i need is that package and then which patches do i need? if i was to play like mw2 or w@w would i only need patches for those games or also things for the system? and since the newest ofw is 4.21 ive been told that you cannot get online by any means as of yet. idk if that info is correct but it couldnt hurt to ask.

All you need is a modified patch for the game you want to modify. And there is sometimes spoofers for 3.55 PS3s to get on 4.21 but at this point of time there isn't. This is where you would want two PS3s.
