I Think you have to leave it in the ps3 for 15 mins before it goes to factory service mode

I have the exact same problem! followed tuts and everything i think i may need a E3 flasher cable to repair mine. If anyone has a fix let me no as well please cheers.

I think i have, i downloaded the payload to go into FSM and put it into the upgrade drive and it turned blue when it was in my pc. But could you provide a download link to the updated files just in case?
