The firmware is stored in the bluray, which means if your bluray is damaged, so is your software.

I'm assuming that you want to get to 3.55 ofw so here is a link to the 3.55 ofw that I use. Give it a try if you want man.

If you can't read discs or your firmware is messed up, then yeah that's how you can tell. I ain't really sure on this thought to be honest :/

Yeah what Joel said. I really don't know man. If that update that I sent you didn't work, I'd say it's the BR drive... Unfortunately :/
