(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Can someone help me fix this. My CPU is usually anywhere from 80c to 87c because it sits in a hot upstairs all day. I have no experience opening ps3s so I wanna try to avoid having to open it, is there anything I can do without opening it?

If you have a finished basement (carpeted, rooms, etc) I recommend playing there, as that is where I play. If not that, try running a fan in the direction of the ps3 to help with keeping it cool. And have it in an open area for airflow.

I will try moving my ps3 because it sits right next to a big led TV, the heat from that can't be good for it.
Edit: I moved my ps3 by a fan in the open, and also put 2 game cases on the edge of the bottom to allow air to flow under the system, but where should the fan be? At the Back, front or side of the system? I have it pointing towards the back right now.

Do they produce alot of heat? Also, it's good to keep it lower on the ground, just not right on carpet. As heat rises, keeping it lower to the ground will also help as well.

I'm gonna leave it off for a little bit and see where the temperature is at after I turn it on for 10 minutes, I just converted it from dex back to cex so it will have a lower chance of overheating, sucks I'm probably gonna have to leave it on cex until the winter.

Yes, I could reapply thermal paste, but opening the ps3 is my last option because i have no experience opening a ps3.

I could make a ps3 opening tutorial for you since I have to YOLD FAT ps3s. But even then, there are tons of tutorials!

Well YLOD comes from the PS3 getting to hot and melting the thermal paste that connects the fan and the board if I remember correctly. So basically you will have to open it up and redo the thermal paste. Recommended using the Artic Silver like coolmankiller said.
