(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); i bought a fat CFW PS3 on ebay a while ago and ive been using it for some months now.. but the thing is the seller was like ''no signs of YLOD or overheating issues'' and when it arrived i installed all the cfw materials like normal and i really just play GTA V, IV and BO2... and so when i start up GTA 5 it used to shut off after a couple minutes when i start up the game but it only happens about 3 times.... then i could play fine.. when i load up BO2 or GTA IV it is so ridiculous how many times it shuts off the second after loading the game up.. it happens about 6-9 times it beeps 3 times and shows the yellow light for a second and then turns red and i have to restart 6-9 times everytime i wanna play BO2/GTAIV... it is really annoying to the point where i dont even wanna play the game anymore because it shuts off to much. so.. i think i got the YLOD can anyone confirm this i mean the ps3 is normal it only shuts off when i load up a game... but it shuts off on the XMB sometimes but damn it is very frustrating.

This is definitely the Yellow Light of Death. What you need to do is call them once again, and let them know that you've further investigated the console and that you're 100% sure that your console has the Yellow Light of Death and that it needs to be fixed. Don't let them go on about how it's not the Yellow Light of Death and whatnot, you want them to fix it. So sooner or later, if you have warranty on your console that is still in tact, they will fix it free. If not, you will have to pay a quick fee in order to send it out to Sony for them to fix it. That's just about all I can say on the matter, this has happened to me a few times as well. This is surely all you need to do.

its been some months now since i bought it and i dont even remember the seller. plus its jailbroken so sony wont take it. i already have another 3.55 ps3 on the way. its a slim model i hope it wont get ylod but the one i have is fat and its like 8 years old and what is happening is it shuts off when the game is overwhelmed like when there is a lot of things going on or like when i played ghosts on the first mission it shut off when i got closer to the big explosions so it has to be overheat issues or somthing like that. one time i turned it on and it gave out a load fan noise for like 30 seconds.. so yeah ill just keep it just to keep it since its semi bricked lol but it still plays games that dont have a lot going on like it actually plays gta 5 and always shuts off on Black ops 2 i dont know why because u would think gta 5 has a lot more going on in the game to ''overwhelm'' the ps3 and shut it off all the time

Have you opened it up yet? Check the thermal paste, that sometime messes things up.

usually all you have to do, is take the top shell off and blow it out with an air compressor.
