If i "update" my ps3 to 3.55 OFW and it says minimum update date is 4.46 or something will i still be able to downgrade to 3.55 with a e3 flasher

yes, but you have to use a 999 downgrader update file.

before you start downgrading you have to check the lowest firmware it is able to install, EG 2.70 on a cech-2004b ps3 slim, that means it handles 2.70 and higher... so dont install 2.50 on that console, thats in short what it means

It means that whatever firmware your console left the factory on (e.g. 3.41 OFW) and that you don't install a firmware lower than that, meaning nothing before 3.41.

If your ps3 is telling you your minimum update is 4.40 then no you can not downgrade, If it says your minimum firmware is 3.55 then yes. If your firmware says your minimum firmware is 2.70 then yes but anything above 3.55 minimum firmware can not be downgraded. Do you have a slim or phat? What is your Model? For example CECH-2001A can be downgraded to 2.70

You need a e3 flasher to actually downgrade to 3.55.. You can check if your ps3 is able to downgrade by using the internet.
