So a went around the Internet, and tried to find the best possible price for a PlayStation 3 the is either jailbroken or on version 3.55 OFW so that I can manually jailbreak it myself. So anyways, I found someone who was selling their PS3 for $200 Canadian Dollars. This is equivalent to $154.70 American Dollars. I'm thinking that it is a pretty good price.

So, about the PS3:

It is in decent condition, you know, average wear and tear from normal use. It is a Phat PS3. Personally, I currently have a Slim but I always found the Phat models to be better looking. The storage is upgraded to 500GB and the Hard Drive is 7200 RPM. The only thing that is missing is the controller, but I already have a Dualshock 3. According to the listing, it is running CFW Rogero 4.55. I asked him if it is PSN banned, and he said that he can confirm that it is NOT banned and that he doesn't sign into PSN with it to not get a CID ban. He said that he never actually went online, he only used it for offline games.

Since I found it on a site like Craigslist, I'll meet with the seller in person and test it myself. The seller told me that I can test it if I wanted to do so.

Now, my questions are:

Can I get a way to play online without getting caught and banned?

If I do get a ban, how can I unban myself?

How can a avoid and prevent a ban, but still go online?

Is Rogero 4.55 an okay firmware and how up gradable is it?

I'm assuming it would be a CEX console?

Is $200 CAD or $154.70 USD a good deal?

Is it even worth getting a jailbroken PS3 at this point?

Would I be able to offer recovery services in order to "get me money back"? As in, get at least $200 back so that I didn't pay much of anything for it?

And, I'm sincerely sorry, but I'm new to jailbreaking, but I really, really want to give it a shot. I'm really interested in these sort of things.

Is this PS3 on 3.55 OFW or a CFW?

1. You can but in the end, you will be banned.
2. You have to buy a CID from a trusted seller. NGU doesn't allow sale of CID's.
3. You can use packages such as PSNPatch and PSNinja to help minimize the risk of ban.
4. Rogero is an okay firmware. It depends if you want to be on DEX or CEX. For DEX, I would recommend Rebug or ITA. For CEX, I would recommend Rebug.
5. Ask the seller if it is a 3.55 OFW or a CFW. If it is a CFW, which one.
6. That is a very good deal.
7. Yes, it is. The modding community is becoming very big. Youtubers have 100k+ subscribers. You can make the money back if you know how also.
8. Yes, you can. On NGU, all you need is to pay $3.99 a month and you can be making the money back in no time. I got my jailbreak 4 months ago and I made it back 3 weeks later.

To answer your questions, your chances of being banned at first are low. After a bit, they are higher. I usually stay on a CID for 1-3 months without being banned. According to the rules, I can't provide a link or talk to you about other forums. That method of taking their CID was patched by Sony. Rogero is okay. Not many people use it on CEX. I am on CEX and I use Rebug. You cannot switch to another CFW without downgrading. The only way without doing this is if the firmware was for example, 4.70.1 Rebug. You are on 4.65.1 Rebug REX and you want to upgrade to 4.70.1. You can do this without downgrading. But if you want to go to 4.46 from 4.65.1, you will need to downgrade. If you want to switch to another CFW like Rogero to Rebug, you will need to downgrade. The things that I would look for is that it IS jailbroken. Meaning that on the Game tab, you can see a star with text that says Install Package Files or Package Manager. If it is not jailbroken, go over to the Settings tab and go to system settings. Then go to System Information and make sure that it says 3.55 for the firmware.

Okay, so I'm assuming that you can't downgrade a CFW to 3.55 without an E3 Flasher? And about the CIDs, for further discussion, could you maybe add me on Skype: psn_b0Y ?
