So a went around the Internet, and tried to find the best possible price for a PlayStation 3 the is either jailbroken or on version 3.55 OFW so that I can manually jailbreak it myself. So anyways, I found someone who was selling their PS3 for $200 Canadian Dollars. This is equivalent to $154.70 American Dollars. I'm thinking that it is a pretty good price.

So, about the PS3:

It is in decent condition, you know, average wear and tear from normal use. It is a Phat PS3. Personally, I currently have a Slim but I always found the Phat models to be better looking. The storage is upgraded to 500GB and the Hard Drive is 7200 RPM. The only thing that is missing is the controller, but I already have a Dualshock 3. According to the listing, it is running CFW Rogero 4.55. I asked him if it is PSN banned, and he said that he can confirm that it is NOT banned and that he doesn't sign into PSN with it to not get a CID ban. He said that he never actually went online, he only used it for offline games.

Since I found it on a site like Craigslist, I'll meet with the seller in person and test it myself. The seller told me that I can test it if I wanted to do so.

Now, my questions are:

Can I get a way to play online without getting caught and banned?

If I do get a ban, how can I unban myself?

How can a avoid and prevent a ban, but still go online?

Is Rogero 4.55 an okay firmware and how up gradable is it?

I'm assuming it would be a CEX console?

Is $200 CAD or $154.70 USD a good deal?

Is it even worth getting a jailbroken PS3 at this point?

Would I be able to offer recovery services in order to "get me money back"? As in, get at least $200 back so that I didn't pay much of anything for it?

And, I'm sincerely sorry, but I'm new to jailbreaking, but I really, really want to give it a shot. I'm really interested in these sort of things.

For DEX I would recommend either ITA 4.65 or Rebug 4.70 D-REX.

Yeah, the PS3 that I might be getting is on Rogero 4.55, so I should be able to go back to 3.55 OFW without a flasher and then start over with a new CFW, right?

No, it won't. Rebug will have the red PSN Ball. Rogero should just be normal I believe. Rebug will also say star Package Manager. Ask him what firmware it is. If he says Rebug 4.x.x D-REX, that is DEX. If he says REX, that is CEX. If he says ITA, that is DEX. If he says Rogero, that is CEX. You just have to know the DEX firmwares and CEX firmwares. If you see a hostname with an IP Address in the bottom right corner, that is ITA which is DEX.

Well, I said in the original post that his is running Rogero 4.55. So CEX? Should I convert to DEX or is CEX better?

If you are a beginner, I would stay on CEX. But if you are advanced, go to DEX. I would go to a different CFW then Rogero 4.55. I would go to Rebug if I were you. Their CFW is one of the best for modding online and offline.
