You need a hardware tool called an E3 Flasher. This involves taking apart the PS3 and has some risk of bricking your PS3 if you do NOT know what you are doing. Those are lies. You CANNOT do it that way, by a simple update through a USB.

Please ignore what the people above told you, your PS3 model is incompatible to be downgraded. Meaning you will need another system to jailbreak. You can only install CFW if you already are on one.

Some models of the 2501B series can be downgraded, actually. He has to use the MinVerChk to find out.

No it can't. 2501B is the last model that is jailbreakable. Pretty positive on that.

Oh. I thought you had said 2501-B. Well, I am sorry to inform you but you can't downgrade it. You would need a different PS3 slim with 2501 or lower that can be downgraded. Or you can get a 3.55 OFW PS3.
