(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I have 10 or so dead PS3 motherboards....all NOR chipped. The RSX/CPU chips have been taken off. My idea is : pull a NOR chip off of a YLOD PS3 and solder it to a 3000 or 4000 series PS3? (Assuming they are the same 16mb NOR brand). Also, maybe just taking the dead motherboards NOR chips off and soldering them to a flashable PS3 (one @ a time) to pull of idps # ??? Anyone ever hear of this or attempt? What are your guys thoughts on this?

oh yeah? why not though? is the firmware in any other chip besides the NOR? i have switched NOR chips from a ylod PS3 to a 2001a ps3 and it went 100% smooth......i know, i know we are taking about a 3000 or 4000 series though, but see my concept?

Dont think its possible. Most you can do is get the dump from the dead motherboard

i put a brand new NOR chip onto a 2001a model and it worked like a charm....i know, what i am thinking is very different but it did cross my mind and i do have the time and stuff to do it. the NOR chips look identical and they are the same size and brand....that chip is the only chip that stores the firmware though, correct? im going to find out via trial and error.....what else am i going to do with a 3000 series, lol

lol, i cant find anything on this topic on the webz. and as for pulling a dumps off of the mobos - i probably need a progskeet or teensy (which i have cooked 2). the teensy was a pain in my ass, most likely because i tried powering it with a usb instead of the 5v. its a shame that those idps # will never see anymore use. but i have never been console banned....not yet anyways

Should use an E3 flasher then. Clips right onto the NOR chip. But if you're trying to get the dumps without the chip being attached to the Motherboard then you will need your E3 flasher to be powered

oh yes, i love the E3, i was always under the impression that the ps3 needed to be powered on to get a dump (with E3, these boards have no rsx/cpu chips).... but you say the E3 can be powered on itself?
