Hey guys, so If i start my CFW up with HDD in, black screen and it freezes. When i start it up with HDD out, it says something about storage media. So obviously my hdd is bad or corrupted, so i wanna format it with my PC. Now the question is, do I put the old cfw on it or can i use any one I want? Thanks!
There is absolutely no need to use a PC to format a Ps3 Hard Drive. It won't hurt it, but Im just saying since everyone and their momma thinks this is needed.
1. Insert the new Hdd into the ps3.
2. Boot ps3 into recovery mode
3. Select option "restore ps3 system"
This will wipe everything and format the hdd to the ps3
You will then be shown a black screen asking for your last syscall (the cfw you had installed last)
4. Install downgrader
5. Qa_flag if needed
6. Install cfw of your choice
Of course with the new hdd, you will need to reinstall any games, homebrew, settings, etc.
GL!
