01-25-2016, 07:48 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); ok so I recently Bricked my ps3, well I soldered a wire to it and got it back up and running now my question is how do I reinstall a firmware so I can get back to modding it... im stuck at a screen that says. "if the system cant be restarted, you must install the system software. connect storage media that contains 4.75 or later, and press start and select buttons at same time. This is a moddable ps3 I have had it on CEX I accidently bricked it trying to put it on DEX. if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it

Not sure if this is what you are asking but here is what you need to do.

1. Download a custom firmware(or downgrader)
2. Rename the .PUP file to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" (no quotes)
3. On the root of a fat32 formatted usb flash drive, create a folder named "PS3"
4. Inside the "PS3" folder, create a folder name "UPDATE"
5. Inside the "UPDATE" folder, place the PS3UPDAT.PUP file
structure should be:
fat32formattedflashdriveroot/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP
6. Put the flash drive into the right most port of your ps3

Either reboot into recovery mode or (maybe you can't) just follow the prompt on the screen
If in recovery mode, select option "update system" and follow prompt

do I upgrade to 4.75 or do I go onto 3.55 rogero downgrader? then update to rebug 4.70 or 4.75?

You can start with downgrader, sure. I would in your case just to verify you are still jailbroken. If you are asking if you should update to 4.75 official firmware, no you should not. But, if you were previously(before problem happened) on 4.75 custom firmware, you don't need to use the downgrader. Just reinstall the same firmware.

Install rogero downgrader
Once on downgrader, install rebug 4.70 or 4.75, or whatever desired cex cfw you want.

the whole point I got bricked was because I was switching from Cex to Dex, I was on rebug 4.75 im trying the 3.55 rogero downgrader right now, but each time it just says no applicable data, or stays on the Checking... Please wait screen.

You can also try to install the last cfw you had installed, rebug 4.75.

Verify folder structure, file name and that everything else is correct.

Let me know if you still have trouble.

What exactly did you do to brick? that may shed some light.
First thing i would do is like DRObythePoUnD said, make sure that your ps3updat.pup is named correctly i cant tell you how many times ive just dumped it in the usb and forgot to rename it. and it goes in the PS3/UPDATE folder
If that doesnt work i would try installing from the recovery Menu (hold power untill ps3 powers up and back off, release and hold power again untill you here 2 beeps)
If it still wont find it, i wonder if the console made the switch to DEX and you may need to download the rebug d-rex and try that (this is mere speculation)
As a last resort I would go ofw 4.76 and reflash your Patched Nor Dump and start over.

i have tried 4.75 rebug cex and d rex neither are working the ps3 just says Checking.. Please wait. and maybe after like 10-15 mins it says data not applicable. iv named the iles right in the PS3/UPDATE?PS3UPDAT.PUP. I have tried multiple PUP files and nothing seems to be working. :/ I can start it in safe mode, it wont rebuild data base or restore the files everytime I click on those it takes me straight back to the update to 4.75 or later

Has your usb flash drive been formatted to fat32?
