(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); OK... First off I am running 4.78 dex and also have current version of mmcm. Also packages I installed..PS ninja, rebug toolbox, psn patch, cobra, irisman and ccapi. I downloaded the package file webman mod and here is where the problem starts. It downloaded fine installed ok but after system restart it made it to the xmb screen and froze! So I had to hold the power button down to shut of. Whe it came back on, said files have to be restored pressed x....restored files ok and when back to xmb same ole FREEZE. So I tried reinstalling current firmware no luck just says install 3.40 or higher. SO I remormatted hdd, now when I start get to xmb top right corner says ccapi cannot load, but the funny thing is when i go under games in xmb ccapi is not there! How do I get rid of ccapi for good?? I think this is my problem!! I also reinstalled rebug toolbox and multiman. PLEASE help me out!!

I changed the paste tonight, no dice! Still doing the same thing. Press power greenl light comes on for a few seconds makes a clicking sound light turns red and it shuts off. Guess I will try my hand at the reflow. Are there any good tutorials you would reccomend? If the reflow works I deffinatly want to reball!

I believe user 'Helping Hand' made a tutorial somewhere around here in the Ps3 section..

You're basically going to blast the two big silver chips with a heatgun, about 3-6 inches away(I do it at 1100*F for about 10 minutes, motioning in small circles).

Let it sit for about 15 minutes or longer to cool. This is very important that it cools correctly.

Then change thermal paste.

Be very slow and gentle putting it back together.

So I did the reflow but unfortunately it didn't work eitherNo So I tested the power supply and low and behold the output was only 6v or less! So from what I have researched this should be producing 12 volts to the board. So I ordered a PSU and we shall see if it is the fix!

The following user thanked happycamper1978 for this useful post:

If I remember correctly, on some (or all idk) psus there is a 5v constant and a 12v constant..You should have 12v or both.

So I put the new power supply in, but still no luck. I decided to take the HDD out and power on. Of course I got the message cannot find the appropriate storage...... So I borrowed my daughter's put in and started and it wants me to install updated firmware of 3.40 or higher. So I took hers out and put my HDD back in. Problem is when I try it can't find the update. Yes it is in the PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPAT.PUP. My question is what firmware should I be installing? I was on 4.78 cex. Maybe my hard drive is shot?? Is it possible to test with her hard drive without destroying it? Her ps3 is not jailbroke.
