If I just have to apply a more pressure and it saves me 25 bucks sounds like it's worth it. Plus Elleusive if you've done many consoles with the same unit it sounds quite durable.


I'm at the stage about to order a flasher, any more advice from the experts in going through with this?

It's so hard to tell, I was rather upset at the thought I was taken. The ps3 I'm doing is the early slim whose NOR was a little trickier to place the flasher hence my desire for the best outcome.

You're right Elleusive, it arrived in that squarish box with the writing on the side rather than the longer one with the writing on the top; which is was first got me thinking. I found an unboxing video of the latter flasher and I downloaded it in HD, was viewing it frame to frame to figure out any differences but that only drove me nuts! I will try to extrapolate the pressure you describe to see if it fits nicely.



I'm going to start the jail break, I'll consult all the tutorials and I'll post back my progress and any questions, but I hope it goes smoothly

Hahah. Don't worry. It's fairly easy, just a bit time consuming. It's smooth sailing once you've extracted clean and identical dumps. Good luck.

Hey guys I was able to set everything up and more or less wrap my head around the entire process and am now pulling dumps but I have one problem which I need clarification on.

I'm pulling from a 4.78 OFW and first checking with two programs. NorInspector says it's ok (I understand it can give false positives) Should I flow reverse it first then use NorInspector for more accuracy? When I run it through Ps3DumpChecker v4.76 I get ONE error out of 138. 009.02 ROS0 HASH. I read that you can disable Hash checks and just go through with the patch is this true? I even tried older versions of DumpChecker which gave even more errors, is it possible that it's a version issue?

If I can go through with it as is and disable hash checks then I'll try to get multiple identical dumps and then visually check them with HxD. Hypothetically speaking, if it doesn't work I could always upload one of the original dumps and start again right?


Or should I keep trying to re-seat the e3 cable on the NOR and apply even more pressure with my clamp? It clipped nicely, I put it on like a lid and it gave a nice snapping noise. My worry of re-seating it too many times is that the pins will eventually deform and I will have to apply even more pressure to get a connection.

edit: After byte reversing NorInspector still says everything is ok and ps3dumpchecker still gives the same one hash error. Of course disabling it only does 136 checks and it passes.

Edit edit: I found the updated hast list for dumpchecker, I can't update it from the program itself and the download from their website is a hit and miss, finally I manually downloaded and put the newer hash files with the 4.76 patcher and it seemed to take them: Problem is now I get a .net program error, I click continue it strangely only does 136 checks even though it is set to check for hash errors.

I believe I figured it out, it was the version difference on the hash checks, the latest version can be found here You must login or register to view this content. The trick is to download it all as a zip rather than trying to download each file in the next directory which doesn't work for some reason. When I transplanted the new hashlist to the old 4.76 patcher you get an error. But with everything matching now it says I'm good!

I took pressure off my clamp overnight but left the flasher on so here we go again, three more dumps then a patch!
