Post: Overheating ps3

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); My jailbroken ps3 has never had any problems until recently. I needed to spoof it to 4.76 and ended up downloading these different pkg and nothing worked . Long story short finally found a good one and after deleting all the other ones that didn't work my fan is no going at 100% in less then 10 minutes and shuts off. Now it may be just a coincidence or maybe one of the pkg messed me up I'm not to sure. I download a fan controller but doesn't do any good. I've blown out the ps3 taken it apart and done everything but replace the thermal paste. Sounds like a jet engine taking off in my room . Thanks to anyone who helps. Cheers

Type your PS3's IP into your we browser. Make sure you have webMAN enabled on PS3, and also be logged in. Next, you should see webMAN on your PC. Click on setup, and scroll down a bit until you see temperature. Raise up your fan speed and keep your normal temp at 63-67.

Most likely the console is overheating, but you can try to reinstall your cfw if you can.

If not, you will need to change your thermal paste and hope for the best. If shutting down has already happened and the console will not boot, you will need a reflow, a reball, or to replace the console...

Do not battle overheating with software it will not solve the issue.

To help with the overheating console I suggest that you, and really everyone put a laptop cooler underneath your ps3, I've been doing it and I've noticed that after long gaming sessions the ps3 doesn't "heat lag" as it used to.

Find a laptop cooler with a You must login or register to view this content., not a plastic one so it can absorb heat better, and one with two fans if you can. They usually run around 20-30 bucks, I think it's a good investment. The ps3 will sit in the middle and the two fans will blow air up into vents around the ps3 as well as cool the bottom.

Good luck!
