Post: Overheating ps3

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); My jailbroken ps3 has never had any problems until recently. I needed to spoof it to 4.76 and ended up downloading these different pkg and nothing worked . Long story short finally found a good one and after deleting all the other ones that didn't work my fan is no going at 100% in less then 10 minutes and shuts off. Now it may be just a coincidence or maybe one of the pkg messed me up I'm not to sure. I download a fan controller but doesn't do any good. I've blown out the ps3 taken it apart and done everything but replace the thermal paste. Sounds like a jet engine taking off in my room . Thanks to anyone who helps. Cheers

It shuts off, I can turn it on for 10 minutes but then cuts off again. I'll give a fan a try before taking it apart.

I installed and set my fan settings but it gets so hot that the fan will kick to 100% but the temperature still gets way to high. 82c°

You make have to take it apart just to dust it. If you don't feel comfortable changing the thermal paste you can have a tech do it for you, but getting the dust out should be easy enough.

You'll need some compressed air, a screw driver and a little time but you can do it.

turn fan speed up with webman :P
or re do your ps3 thermal paste Smile
if ps3 still gets to high temps you would want to take the ihs plates off the gpu and cpu and repaste under them Smile

my self i dont like a ps3 that gos over 70c Smile

i always go for about 45c - 55c on my ps3s

I have concluded that sony has some sort of saftey mechanism built into the ps3 when it proceeds to get to hot as I have a buddys cfw ps3 who's does the exact same thing as your's I would monitor the temperature with ccapi and every time it got to 84 degrees it would shut off .

Like others have said A new thermal pasting coat wouln't hurt and if that's not the issue another word of advice I might recommend is placing the ps3 on its side and making sure that the back of the ps3 has enough room to properly vent.

Hope that helps.
