I just got a E3 Flasher and was following a tutorial when my ps3 wouldn't boot anymore. It now turns on and sits there, there's no audio or video and won't turn off unless I hold the power button for 30 seconds or pull the cord. I know its not a problem of HDMI vs. RCA because I've tried the video reset method, and it can't boot into recovery mode to allow me to format it, when I hold the power button upon boot it just turns off and stays off. I wasn't able to get a dump file before this happened either and every dump I get now is bad. I didn't flash anything to it either I just was trying what this guy did here You must login or register to view this content. at 24:37 because I wasn't getting any dumps before. Now it won't boot.

Here's the tutorial I followed: You must login or register to view this content.

Hello hope the users here can help you with your ps3. I haven't heard of this before I have some questions.

When you press and hold it to reset the video and boot into recovery are you hearing the beeps?
What is the hard drive light doing when you turn it on?
When you plug in a controller is it recognized or is it just flashing?

Before you used the e3 flasher I assumed you did the same steps you are doing now, have you noticed any differences or is it the same behavior?

If your ps3 stays on but isn't reacting to anything, I'd say power supply is good but you may need a new motherboard.

Sometimes this works with other electronics: unplug it, press and hold the power button to remove any charge and leave it unplugged for some time. Hopefully it resets itself.

Hi, thanks for the quick response.
When I hold the power button I hear no beeps until it beeps to turn off. No activity with the hard drive light and the controller isn't recognized. It worked perfectly until I reset the e3 flasher, but still worked after I attempted a dump, I reset the flasher because I wasn't getting a file from the dump. From what I read online it could be a gpu solder error preventing boot and I need to reflow. If I messed up the nor chip I'm not having the same symptoms of turning on, 3 beeps then turning off, but what concerns me is that my dumps are bad making me believe I may have messed it up somehow

Just quoting you two so u get the Notification Kronos1

xnojack im not sure what your problem may be, did u buy the PS3 with some of these problems? or was it a fully working and operational ps3 before u started tinkreing with it?

It was fully working before I started tinkering with it. But what confused me was that it stopped working when I was resetting the e3 flasher and not when I flashed the ps3 so I don't know if I caused it or not because if it was a nor chip problem it should be shutting off automatically with 3 beeps and not turning on and doing nothing.

So before you tried to flash it your ps3 was working but beeping three times to shut off? Normally it just beeps once. So that means the ps3 is was freezing or in the middle of processing and it's forcing the shutdown. If the gpu was overheating and the solder was going that would follow with the three beeps. Re flowing might be an option.

Before flashing you weren't able you able to access the recovery menu either?

I think Kronos' appraisal is right, you might be working through an existing hardware problem and now having to deal with flashing complications.

if you followed the video, you might have part of the metal bracket touching something, or you got the heatsink too tight.
without the heatsink/fan mounted on the metal base you could easily apply too much pressure and damage the chips

You have GLOD. In a situation like this, it happens from flashing a bad backup(or no backup), or possibly the NOR chip was shorted..

All you can do is try to pull a backup, if you can't get a good one or you don't have a good one to flash to it, then the ps3 is bricked..Only way to fix would be to solder a new working NOR chip to the ps3.

That's what I thought. But I also read that even if I got a new chip I would still need a good back up from the old one to make it usable, so I think one of the chips could be damaged or I somehow flashed nothing to it corrupting the chip and my ps3 is bricked.

My guess is that you didn't plug the fan back into the motherboard or didn't put everything back the way you had it cause if you didn't flash anything to the nan chip then it won't cause it to brick ever but if you did and your having this problem then let me know but if you don't hear any beeps when your system turn off like a 3 beep sequence every time it turn off then your not bricked if you don't hear those beeps but let me know if its all put together and I'll try to help
