This could be caused by a corrupt HDD, a bad power supply or overheating from dust thats gathered over time. I would think it might be the power supply gone bad.

The blowdryer will still work for slim, and the more long term better fix is the same concept, take apart, apply new thermal paste.

Ok the thermal paste seems pretty easy. Where would i get thermal paste. Like office depot or any other?

radioshack, general electronics or PC stores.

You want arctic silver 5. It is a small grey tube and costs roughly $11-$13.

When applying, put 1 thin line down each of the two chips (CPU/GPU) and evenly spread it evenly with a card.

Ideally you would change thermal paste before overheating damages start to cause the console to shut down. Because shutting down is happening already, it will most definitely need a reflow to jumpstart the console. Otherwise if a reflow + new paste doesn't work, it will need a reball or the console will need to be replaced.

GL to you!
