Does it matter which program I use to patch? I have an updated norpatch and ps3dumpchecker I assume they're both doing to do the same job but on some tutorials they recommend one over the other.

I want to run DEX I need some advice and clarification on the 3.55 I should use. I have downloaded every one I can put my hands on, DEX PS3 OFW 3.55, the rebug 999 downgrader, rogero downgrader, kmeaw, rebug 3.55 rex, bozex and pup 3.55.

Do I go OFW DEX first, then go to a CFW DEX, then a higher version DEX? Or is it CFW REX then convert to DEX then higher version DEX? If I understand correctly the rebug999 is CFW 3.55, can I go straight to it then a higher version?

Right now my ps3 firmware folder packed and I'm having a hard time choosing. Plus when I over research I end up having more questions in each step than when I started lol.

Well I'm having a heart attack, after patching with ps3dumpchecker with a 3.55 CFW in the right most USB port in it's not letting me install. It keeps saying that the file is corrupted. Am I using the wrong one or is the download bad?

All the other 3.55 CFW's and downgraders gave the same error, only rogero worked. It took a ton of reboots into recovery mode but one had to work. I'm still curious as to the why though.

Yeah I wasn't too sure of the process myself, now I think I have to convert to DEX, and then update to the appropriate version. I'm going to take a break from the ps3 right now I've been at it all day. All this for GTA...DAMN YOU! *shakes fist*

stuff i always have install on a rebug/standard cfw vs ITA (i haven't been banned in a long time so it's the homebrew i install whenever i jailbreak someone's ps3 except i don't add the web man)
but the stuff you listed is all the main stuff you really need technically all you need is psn patch and psninja or just webman and those to be safe, but what you've listed is good, i think i'm gonna stop playing old gen at the end of this yeah not sure, i'll probably end up selling my crap and some of my consoles

Current cfw set up : 250GB CECH2102A - 4.75 ITA, 500GB CECH2002A - 4.75 ITA noBD MFW (This console has heat issues, noBD and gets the RSOD when has to be reflashed cause i had bad dump but its a easy fix and the sysr=tem run great once the RSOD fix has been done and webman is installed)

Thanks Offline I really appreciate the time you took to give me this experienced information. I'm going to start downloading and installing these and get familiar with them before I attempt to go online. Then I'll try setting up a VPN for the ps3.

Yeah I wouldn't mod Destiny, it's a fun game as is not to mention the high risk ban.


They might keep supporting old gen for a while yet, they just quit support for the ps2, I'm hoping ps3 has at least five more years of the popular online games. Are you getting tired of the cat and mouse chase from modding ps3's and just want to go ps4? Or go to PC gaming? I'd rather go to PC than next gen consoles, I don't like the idea of having to subscribe to pay.

no, play legit most the time, id be lying if i said all the time, but i mostly play offline games for trophies the online has become quite boring for me and all these kids getting jailbreaks and going through all these cid's etc is just ****ed up tbh, i still enjoy a lot of games but some of my games i loved online now have no players or hardly anyone plays that and the ps4 has a lot of games i wanna play i'm just waiting for second console model unless its garbage then in that case ill just buy current ps4, i've been putting it off so i can buy like 100 games straight up and just lay them for months, if you want you can add my main psn for cfw, Xanpi, my main psn for offline games i don't ever give people, but if you ever need something and ask me and i say no don't try change my mind thats all you need to know, but i'n usally pretty open to questions and will try to help if its reasonable, i still play ps2 game, they don't look quite as good on the ps3 emulator but still fun to play

I'm doing this just to mod GTA but I too will only playing on my OFW most of the time. I was only playing offline games since until recently high speed finally came to my area so I've switched to anything online ps3 has to offer while I still can since I'm late in ps3's lifespan. There are many good titles I missed out on that don't have online servers anymore.

Yeah it can get annoying sometimes, all these kids with jailbreaks constantly fault their "powers" and harass people. I've met some classy modders online though, and there are a ton of great people on this forum who I look forward to playing with once I'm set up. Yeah I felt that too about waiting for the second ps4 model, the price can go down and they can work out the bugs I don't think there's a rush to get it at all. There are a bunch of games I want to play yet, a few are on PC but there are Sony exclusive titles, uncharted, ratchet, etc that I'd miss out on. Plus I mean look how many times they released ps3 games in different versions or editions, we're not going to miss out on any ps4 games plus they'll be cheaper by that time too.

I have been planning to ask people on this forum to add me on PSN but haven't yet simply for the reason I'm not finished with the JB and I don't want to come across as someone who has added them for the sake of asking them questions. Once I'm done we'll all be on the same level more or less and it feels better to just play as friends then instead of any business messing up the relationship.

Anyone who's done any kind of repair work has the experience of people asking them to do all the work for them. I've broken some relationships because of people asking unreasonable things from me.

Yeah I bought some ps2 classics as well that I missed out on. Some are even HD remasters they still look pretty good I think. Growing up with older game consoles I'm easily impressed lol.
