Does it matter which program I use to patch? I have an updated norpatch and ps3dumpchecker I assume they're both doing to do the same job but on some tutorials they recommend one over the other.

I want to run DEX I need some advice and clarification on the 3.55 I should use. I have downloaded every one I can put my hands on, DEX PS3 OFW 3.55, the rebug 999 downgrader, rogero downgrader, kmeaw, rebug 3.55 rex, bozex and pup 3.55.

Do I go OFW DEX first, then go to a CFW DEX, then a higher version DEX? Or is it CFW REX then convert to DEX then higher version DEX? If I understand correctly the rebug999 is CFW 3.55, can I go straight to it then a higher version?

Right now my ps3 firmware folder packed and I'm having a hard time choosing. Plus when I over research I end up having more questions in each step than when I started lol.

You've pretty much got everything covered. I'd install CCAPI, too. It's handy for GTA tools, if you plan on using them. However, I do recommend and prefer TMAPI. It also makes changing your CID a breeze, but here's to hoping you won't need it for THAT.

With GTA I just used a sprx all you need really and as for cid its quite safe as long as you don't try using a nasty menu. Only time I was GTA banned was trying to use some guys menu that was good but got me banned in the loading screen. That was in early GTA 5 modding days though. I didn't get banned last year and I'd have to say its safer then modding ghost. Though ghost is quite safe as long as you have anti ban. I got Mac banned so many times on bo2 and ghost in 2014 lol anyways I just realized I starting going off topic.

I hear you. I'm the same, really. I'm not all that interested in tools but occasionally I like to see what's available, just out of curiosity rather than necessity. I've never been banned from GTA and I've been modding since IV. It's the only game I mod these days. The only other game I had an intense modding interest in was taken offline years ago. I miss you, Socom.

I forgot that game existed tbh. I like modding skyrim etc though the mods are not as good as PC and harder to convert them Xbox its fun I'm still playing it every so often and it got at end of 2011

No worries man, we all have rough days sometimes. Between school and work it's gets busy, I haven't been on much myself. Yeah I'm usually on later in the evening on a weekday. Thanks you too, I hope we can all have fun while it lasts, but there's always offline games so we're good lol.

Thanks Elleusive, I forgot about those tools. I've heard of them but didn't know which one to go with. I'll definitely run TMAPI for no particular raisin. Right now I'm at the stage of picking things based on, "People talk about these a lot I should probably have them," "Just blend in Spock and everyone will think you know what you're doing", "Oh damn you're talking to yourself Spock in the third, now everyone thinks you're crazy!".

Yeah I'm hoping that never happens. Or at least not until I get that 10 million dollar plane in GTA made of goooooold.
