I have no idea how to do that lol

1. Go to REBUGs site (click the word REBUG in my signature ) and download 4.80 REBUG REX firmware
2. Make a folder on your USB that's been formatted to FAT32 called PS3
3. inside that make another folder called UPDATE
4. Put it in there then rename it PS3UPDAT.PUP.
5. Make sure to turn the Internet on your PS3 OFF and remove any discs from inside your PS3 then go to System Update and select your USB then let it do it's thing and you'll be on 4.80
Although until CCAPI is updated to work on 4.80 i suggest either 4.75 or 4.78 but it's your call

so I downloaded 4.78.1 rex from rebugs site.

so now I need to rename it? from its named 4.78.1_rex.zip
is everything ive downloaded correct at this point ?

There should be a .pup file inside there. If it's not already then rename that PS3UPDAT.pup and put it on your USB which should be formatted to FAT32 then insert your USB into your PS3 and make sure to turn the Internet off on your PS3 under Network settings then go back to the top of your settings and click System update and update from USB.

there is no ps3updat.pup in the notw pad when I open in WinRAR
