(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Need help going from 4.78 Habib to Rebug D-rex. Is all I need to do it just install the rebug firmware? Do I need to do any type of downgrading?

edit: Solution found.

If you want to change your CFW from Habib 4.70 CEX to Rebug 4.78.1 REX, all you need to do is install the CFW as long as you have QA toggled. If you already have a jailbroken PS3 chances are it's already toggled. If not look for this to give you a hint if it is or isn't. After it's installed, reinstall CCAPI and you're good.

Check these links for some help. They are what I used.
This to convert from CEX to DEX.

Easy way:
Converting to DEX can be done by installing any rebug REX(CEX) cfw (I believe 4.65 or higher) You must login or register to view this content., and then following these steps:

1. Open Rebug toolbox
2. Select option "dump eid root key"
Select yes, Console will reboot
3. Open Rebug toolbox
4. Select option "rewrite target ID in flash"
Select yes
5. Select option "swap lv2 kernal"
select yes and yes for it to reboot.

6. Install a DEX cfw of your choice, such as You must login or register to view this content.

Done!

Manually:

get c2d and openssl
You must login or register to view this content.

make sure to go to C:/ , and the folder named "Win32Openssl" or something like that, rename it to "openssl"

1. Install Rogero Downgrader.pup You must login or register to view this content.
2. Download "Eid Root Key Dumper For 3.55" You must login or register to view this content.
3. Install Eid rootkey dumper.pkg to your ps3
3. Run Eid rootkey dumper.pkg

Your console will restart

5. Install Rebug 4.46(or any rebug cex for this ex I was using 4.46)

4. Use Filezilla to retrieve your eid_root_key from dev_hdd0/tmp/eid_root_key

5.Put a fat32 formatted usb flash drive in the right side port of your ps3
6.Open rebug toolbox, go to furthest right column and select "Export Flash to file"
You then have 2 files altogether
---------- A. Eid_root_key
---------- B. XXXXXXX-XXXXXX-FLASH-NOR-FW4.46.NORBIN

6. Put them in a folder somewhere safe

7. Make a copy of "eid_root_key" and name it "eid_root_key.bin"(no quotes)
8. Make a copy of "XXXXXXX-XXXXXX-FLASH-NOR-FW4.46.NORBIN" and name it "CEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN"(no quotes)
9. Make a copy of "CEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN" and name it "FLASHCEX.BIN"
Make DAMN sure you don't leave it with a double extension (ex CEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN.NORBIN, FLASHCEX.BIN.BIN)

10. Copy "eid_root_key.bin" and "FLASHCEX.BIN" to where c2d.exe is located
11. Hold shift and right click an open spot in the folder, then select the option "open command window here"
12. In the cmd that has opened, type "c2d.exe eid_root_key.bin FLASHCEX.BIN FlashDEX.bin 82"(no quotes)
The "82" represents the region

13. along with your "FLASHCEX.BIN" and "eid_root_key.bin", you will see a new "FLASHDEX.bin" file
14. Rename "FLASHDEX.bin" to "DEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN"
15. copy "eid_root_key.bin", "CEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN", and "DEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN" to the root of your usb flash drive
16. put the usb flash drive in the right side port of your ps3
17. Go to rebug toolbox, second column from the right, and select "rewrite target ID in Flash"
it will ask are you sure click yes
18. Then, select the option "Swap LV2 Kernel"
It should successfuly swap to DEX/Debug
19. Install a DEX cfw like Rebug 4.75.3

I'm actually on 4.70 Habib Cex and need to be on Rebug Rex. Do I need to downgrade first?

Since the firmware you are installing is of a version lower than the one you are currently on, yes you will need to downgrade.

You can use this You must login or register to view this content. if you need one

All that is way to complex for me. What if QA is toggled? Guess I'll stick to CEX (even though it's spoofed to 4.80 and I still can't get online Not Happy or Sad). Thanks for the replies.

changing your firmware is too complicated? That's all you're doing to downgrade..

To install an update(firmware) to a ps3:
1. Download the cfw you want to install, in this case the downgrader..
2. Rename the file to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" (no quotes)
3. On the root of a fat32 formatted usb flash drive, create a folder named "PS3"
4. Inside the "PS3" folder, create a folder named "UPDATE"
5. Inside the "PS3" folder, place your "PS3UPDAT.PUP"

folder structure should be:
fat32formattedflashdriveroot/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP

6. Install the usb flash drive into the rightmost usb port of the ps3
7. Boot ps3 into recovery (alt. go to XMB, top of second column from the left)
8. Select option "Update System" (select from usb device)
9. Follow prompt and install

It's not hard at all..

That's probably what you will need to do in order to fix your sign in errors. Maybe your cfw is not supported by arch spoofer, although I don't see why it wouldn't be..but you may try going to a rebug firmware. It should definitely work then..At least it would rule that out as being the problem..

GL! let me know if you need any more help.

Then I have to toggle qa, install kmeaw (or whatever it's called), then install rex. I'm not trying to brick my console by fucking up a step. I appreciate your time. Could I just install like 4.80 You must login or register to view this content.over my 4.70 Habib FW?
