Post: Ps3 98% update stuck dex

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ayyee NGU!

About 3 days ago I was thinking of changing firmwares, So I chose 4.50 ITA Dex.
I downloaded it and went straight from 4.80 D-Rex Rebug to*4.50 ITA Dex.

When I booted the Ps3, it showed the waves but no icons and nothing loaded. I
decided to turn off the ps3 ( Pull the plug as the button wouldn't respond )
and reboot it but the same thing happened again.

I then went into recovery mode and chose option 3, this froze the console
so I turned it off. I rebooted and it said that the firmware couldn't run
and I must install any firmware above 3.50. So I grabbed the DEX Downgrader
and gave it a shot.

The update got stuck at 98% overnight so I tried again through the recovery*
menu. But when I clicked system update the PS3 froze. I tried every other*
option but they all froze.*

I tried another hard drive and it worked, but once I changed back
it was still broken. Formatting the hard drive is the LAST thing I want to do.

Any help with fixing this problem would be great.

At this precise point being worried about data on the hdd isnt priority, why the hell would you think of going 4.80 to 4.50 ? thats downgrading which means a downgrader is required

To be honest i think you'll be lucky if you get it working again. put the hdd into another console to format. put it back into original console after format to format again and attempt installing dex downgrader.

If that doesnt work then reflashing would be last resort. if you even have original dump of the console

I went full retard? But the reason I wanted to go to 4.50, was Cus I knew that many people used that firmware and Rebug had been bugging up recently (pun intended)

Never claimed that you're a retard just wrong move to make.

Rebug is most stable and up to date firmware. ITA is garbage imo

Next time..
When going from a higher firmware to a lower firmware than the one you are currently on, first install the downgrader, then install the lower cfw.

GL!

1. boot your ps3 into recovery mode
2. Select option "restore ps3 system"
This will reformat your hdd and wipe everything (games, saves, etc)
When it is finished, it will bring up a black screen asking for your last syscall (last cfw installed)
3. Install You must login or register to view this content.
4. Once on the downgrader, install a (DEX) cfw of your choice

If recovery mode freezes for you on any options, then I would assume the hdd is corrupt and will need to be replaced.
