I previously had a bunch of issues with this system by trying to updating to a higher firmware. Such as getting this error: 8002F1F9. I'm currently having a issue enabling the BD Rom on my system which is the main thing I want to do is boot games with out the disc. I've currently read the whole process in terms of CEX 2 DEX however when using Rebug toolbox version 2.02 and trying to click X to Dumb EID root key nothing happens. Toggle Q/A is enabled and everything, I just can't get the bd rom to activate for what ever reason. I also have a problem booting games from the app_home/PS3_Game which gives me this error: 80028F14. Is your disc drive functional? Will it read a game or bluray disc?

When you were trying to update it, Did you try updating in " Recovery Mode ", If not give a try to see if that will work. For your game i recommend using something like " Irisman " to boot your game up. Do you have Multiman as well?

Yes, disc can work fine. I've tested GTA IV and DDR on it today.

I've tried other managers such as irisman & multiman. From new versions and old versions of both managers

Yes, I've done the whole process in terms of updating the firmware from everything from Recovery mode, put the USB on the right side of ps3. etc.

I can't boot up games if the BD rom is not available.

First off what game u trying to run, Lets start with that.

Well I can test out one game from bd rom it's Dance Dance Revolution.

However I'm getting this error for all games, and also some PKG programs. I get "Game Quit: No Request Event"

Where you loading your game from, Multiman?

I would go on a more stable firmware however this is the 3rd time where my system semi-bricked on me.

Here are the steps that I've done:

I'm on 3.55.4 Rebug cex.

I wanted to go on 4.80.1 REX/CEX

So I got the file for 4.80.1, check the MD5 hashes.

Then reformated by USB to FAT32, just to be sure and cleared all data.

Then from there on the root of my USB I made folders like this: PS3 > UPDATE > PS3UPDAT.PUP

Then plug it in on the nearest side to the CD tray.

Put the system in "safe-mode"

Do system update

Then around when the update starts to go along around 62-68% I get this dreaded error of 8002F1F9, which means my system is stuck in a system update loop. Which is a pain to get out off.
