I use PSN Patch and have never been banned (I don't mod or cheat online either and tend to stay away from games such as GTA or CoD because of the high risk ban)
If you put your ID's into the 'psnpatch.cfg' and save it, you can use that file to store your ID's so PSN Patch can load it. If you go on to the PSN Patch application, press select to switch to PSN Patch Toolbox and from here, you can install the plugin + set autospoof at boot. Restart your PS3, press L3+R3+R2 to disable syscalls, wipe history, ect (do you use Webman? Enable unload Webman using L3+R3+R2 in Webman Settings so you can unload that also with PSNPatch L3+R3+R2). Store your ID's on 'psnpatch.cfg' and transfer the file to the location you want PSN Patch to load it from (locations listed below) first before installing the plugin and autospoof.
With the plugin enabled, you will not have access to PSN (safety feature) until you use the L3+R3+R2 combo to unlock PSN. When you unlock PSN, you can then go online. If you want your ID's to last a long time, don't use homebrew whilst online. Modding and cheating will eventually get you banned. Just "act" like a OFW user and you will be fine.
Below is some areas you can store the psnpatch.cfg with your ID's. I personally put the 'psnpatch.cfg' into dev_hdd0/game/BLJS10018/USRDIR/psnpatch.cfg (I also make a backup of ID's incase I ever delete or format the HDD).
