2. Rename it from XXX.PUP to UPDATE.PUP
3. Copy the file on any external device, such as an MS, on the ms0:/PS3/UPDATE folder
4. Run it under the PS3. Done.

u see my problem is that i don't know wht 2 do after i've plugged my memory stick into my ps3. I've tried updating via storage media but it says no applicable data can be found. I've also tried copying the offline software package to video, music and photo and it says the same thing: no applicable data can be found .
how do u install it properly??
the reason why i'm so persistent about this is because I keep getting an error code 8071723, cannot establish an connection to the server, which according to ur post about error codes means that i have possible port errors, and i need to open ports TCP port 180, 443, 5223 and UDP port: 3478, 3479, and 3658 or add PS3 to Dmz i mean wht is a port (sorry about being such a noob) and wht does DMZ (not demilitarization zone lol) actually mean??
sorry about being such a pain

Hey Fraz,

I appreciate your help. Do you know if the firmware change could possibly take it out of the 2.51 demonstration mode? I posted last night and you responded on my post. I am still trying to figure out how to get rid of the 2.51 demonstration mode. I get in and get it out of demo mode but have to do this everytime I turn the machine on.

Thanks again for your guidance.

Once out of demo mode thats it. You will update it offline and then you can never download demo firmware again . But if you do i have the codes for all the demo firmwares . Got you covered my friend
