i forgot to say you will probly need a firmware lower than the debug one! Waiting for new debug.
ok so i just made a program that will write the firm ware to the usb lol (kinda not needed but hey!)

Well i told you had more info and here it is installing Debug firmware on a retail ps3!

WARNING!

Doing this can end in an unusable system!!!!!

.::Install firmware tut!::.

Ok guys so to do this you will need two hard drives. Put a debug firmware on the hdd useing a usb to copy it to the hdd! Next after the restart it will ask you to install turn off the consal in the back if you dont a error will stop it. next swap out the hdd and copy the retail firmware to the hdd using a usb! When you acept the license swap the hdd with the hdd with debug software and boom you now have a retail consal with test software!

Ok so last night in talking to hunter i asked him about his method he told me that ngu could suck it and that why would he release his hard work!

Work?

Well lets see his first post ever not long ago i might say was a desperate question on why cant the computer read ps3 files!

i mentioned something about it being easy never got a response.

The thing is its not hard to get your hands on a debug and its the easiest way to run/decompile code on the ps3! There are no need for singers on the code it will run. Dump the pkg on the debug decompile it grab the dumped files and mod them you then simply recompile the modded code and he debug will run it!

I think the reason that hunter is so Mad about this is because people think he did something impossible When if i'm correct he used Sony's Own debug Against them!

I have other things too!
PS. I might be close to hacking the psn rent time!

So what ur saying is
on the first lots of ps3 u could get some option to edit .PKG files
so on the new ps3 u could install the old firmware

well there are units called ps3 test these systems are made for devlopers you know!... treyarch,mm,infintiyward all those guys. these systems allow for the files to well devloped.

IT IS wa easier than that even with a little hacker know how and a tid bit of knowledge, you can do lobbies.

You need :

PS3 with Lnux OR PC you can connect and decrypt your HDD

A little bit of know how (knowing which file to use and which is one of the last files called even after the Patch)

to patch the correct file with code, put hte HDD back in the PS3 RUN and DING you got lobbies.

yes this has been done we know.

ps you would also need to fix check sum not hard and headors

With the right file you don't even have to fix the chesksum IE older PS3 with LINUX.

Before the HDD got checksummed.

I am going Premium so I can talk to someone about this and get some more GCS code.

dm, I've been following your work since you stated you modded TF2 with a server.cfg so it's good to see you're still pumping out very useful information.

I have a 20 gig PS3 with FW 3.30 on it, the BD drive died on it, so that'll be my test unit (assuming we can still install the debug FW on 3.30.) My only issue would be getting the unmodified .pkg onto that system. The bypass method doesn't work anymore and since the BD drive is dead I wouldn't be able to try and run MW2 and get the file that way. I could try the backup exploit and see if that'll put the patch onto the system, or back up both HDDs and then just copy all the patch files into the debug FW PS3.

Now, from what I've read about SCE specific .pkgs, the PKG file contains the header that reads the checksum of the files within, so... Theoretically, couldn't we successfully brute the modified patch files once they've been unpacked from the .pkg which occurs during installation after downloading? Then the .pkg wouldn't interfer as the patch file wouln't need to be placed back into a .pkg to download again since it's already on the HDD.

Does the question make sense? I'm a little rushed because I wanted to get the train of thought out before I ran to the store for some food.
