Following on from our report which informed you about Sony’s possible plans to ban anyone using the new PS3 jailbreak solution, we now have some fresh details from community hacker Mathieulh, who says that the USB method may be available via alternative means.
As taken from PS3Hax, Mathieulh has posted a recent message on Twitter, in relation to PSJailbreak – a USB plug and play device which allows a new way to enable homebrew applications and gives users the ability to save games onto the hard drive.
However, Mathieulh thinks that Sony will fix the problem up with a firmware update, rendering the USB device useless for the time being. He states that the guys responsible for PSJailbreak definitely used Geohot’s PS3 jailbreak method on their USB device and reveals that the exact chip used for it, has already been identified.
As a result, he advises PS3 owners NOT to purchase the USB dongle, as a free and alternative method to allow homebrew content will be available in the nearer future. You can see the message on his Twitter account You must login or register to view this content.

sony said they wern't going to remove other OS and what did they do? remove it, also on the ps2 slim, later models could not load 3rd party memory cards, sony removed it, don't put it past sony, you should know what they are capable of.

I have said it before and I will say it again SONY will not disable USB Ports with there biggest marketing peripherals the "PS MOVE" set to release in under 3 weeks they will not shoot themselves in the foot like that not when they projected to outsell kinect and are leading in console sales if anything this Jailbreak should give SONY CONSOLES a boost in sales in my opinion.

Who knows if Sony is the one who leaked the Jig on purpose? It's a possibility.

Yeh that could be a possibility.
And to all those who said they won't disable usb ports, of course they won't, how else am i going to charge my controller and headset up lol.

hmm that's an interesting statement you think SONY will stoop that low ??? we need an insider if they did do that, then they can easily un-do it I'm assuming I guess we will find out the full affect this has in about a week or two when people start receiving there dongle's.

Any money you just format your usb device to a certin format and the ps3 reads it blah blah blah.
The thing inside theh usb doesnt do shit its just there to make it look fancy.
