The only catch (if this works, and I haven't tried it yet because of the following) is that you'd need to update to 3.42 and lose your jailbreak.

Here's the thing:
If anybody has installed a hack patch on their jailbroken PS3 (via FTP), that patch will remain there until the next game update. Even if you're running unjailbroken.

Try it. Unplug your Mod Chip, Calculator, or Phone, and restart the PlayStation. If you go back into the game, it'll be hacked, just like before.

So if somebody were to install a hacked patch and then update to the latest firmware, the patch would stay there and would work online (modded 10th lobbies!).

So the only question is:
Does anybody have a successful method to downgrade? I know this was looked into before, but never went very far.

Would it work if you backed up the PS3 on 3.41, updated, got some people into Challenge Lobbies, and then Restored the Backup to 3.41? (I think this was already proven not to work, unfortunately.)

Won't work I've been playing on Godly's patch and when i unjailbreak it doesn't work anymore. :/

The main issue with downgrading is that we KNOW how to do it. It's just doing it!
Sounds silly, but it's true. We can extract PUP files, but not compress them. We can extract them, change say the 3.41 firmware to say 3.42 (just a renaming it, if you like!) in one of the extracted files, and then pack it again. Only thing is that we can't repack it...

I think a much easier way to do it would be to just modify "version.txt" in the PS3's flash.

I think I know a way to bypass future firmware updates though. The only problem is once the PS3 knows there's a new update, it'll be hard for us to change that.
But I think there's a way to prevent it from knowing there's a new update in the first place.

Changing version.txt in /dev_flash/ will not help much. As already posted by someone (not sure who! :embarrassed said. If you changed that you would probably need to change all the SPRX files which would take too long and could possibly cause corruption.
Also we can't edit /dev_flash/ even through FTP! (YET... :wtf

thank you so much fro confirming that hacks stay on even after PS Jailbreak that means with 2 PS3 you can hopefully get online with hacks

y dont u do a modded patch urself and upload it for someone who has 3.42 update and see if that works

how are you suppose to get the patch on 3.42 if he uploads it on here?
it works for 3.41 cause you can just jailbreak and insert the pack on the stystem
