The only catch (if this works, and I haven't tried it yet because of the following) is that you'd need to update to 3.42 and lose your jailbreak.

Here's the thing:
If anybody has installed a hack patch on their jailbroken PS3 (via FTP), that patch will remain there until the next game update. Even if you're running unjailbroken.

Try it. Unplug your Mod Chip, Calculator, or Phone, and restart the PlayStation. If you go back into the game, it'll be hacked, just like before.

So if somebody were to install a hacked patch and then update to the latest firmware, the patch would stay there and would work online (modded 10th lobbies!).

So the only question is:
Does anybody have a successful method to downgrade? I know this was looked into before, but never went very far.

Would it work if you backed up the PS3 on 3.41, updated, got some people into Challenge Lobbies, and then Restored the Backup to 3.41? (I think this was already proven not to work, unfortunately.)

I think that your personally better off getting the Official PSJB to be honest. They all may do the same thing but the PS Freedom / Groove has some errors and doesn't offer any updates or warranty and they are always going to be a step behind,

The problem is getting online. That video was recorded before the latest firmware came out, which breaks the jailbreak.

(You have to have the latest MW2 patch installed) What you do is hack the patch on the FW 3.41 and then check if it works. You then update your PS3 firmware to 3.42 so that you can then host your modded patch online at the cost of losing your PSJB. As long as you don't update your MW2 PATCH then the patch will always stay the same since you have already installed it untill the next MW2 patch comes at least.

I am going to hack until bypass... I am going offline with my bro and I am going to practice hacking there and create different patches..

Well you still have the backup on your ps3 but you won't be able to load backup manager on the ps3 to play the hacked mw2.

Or can you just hack mw2 patch with out the backup?

there is no need for you to create new patches. Just go into the XBOX section and start grabbing patches off of there since they already work on the PS3 apart from you have to change the binds I think. I'd just grabthe best bits off of each patch and then write a menu or get an XBOX modder to help you write one. se7en sins has some good patches

I will just get the godly mods one and work from there.

Do I have to compress the patch to the correct file size or no since its already on ps3?
