(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); i think iv found a way to change the mac address of the ps3 so you can unban the console

Heres what i found
How to change a MAC address in MacOS

Instructions for changing the MAC address on a Macintosh can be found at MAC Spoofing on the Macintosh.
How to change a MAC address in FreeBSD

In FreeBSD, you can change your MAC address with the `ifconfig link
` command.
How to change a MAC address in Linux

Under Glossary Link Linux, you can change your MAC address with `ifconfig hw
`, or you can use the GNU MAC Changer.
How to change a MAC address in Solaris

In Glossary Link Solaris, you can change the MAC address with the `ifconfig
` command.
How to change a MAC address in OpenBSD

Glossary Link OpenBSD does not, by default, allow you to change the MAC address. It is possible to change the MAC address under OpenBSD with sea.c.
How to change a MAC address in HP-UX

Under HP-UX, you can change the MAC address in SAM by selecting Glossary Link Networking and Communications, then selecting the interface, then Action, Modify, Advanced Options. HP-UX refers to the MAC address as the "station address".
Changing a MAC Address in Hardware

Speed Demon Adapters sells network cards which give you the ability to change the MAC address stored in their EERPROM.

This can give you the ability to change your MAC address under any operating system that supports either the PCI bus or Glossary Link PCMCIA Type II cards.

all i need is a little bit of help trying to find a way to get linux on the ps3 i have fw 3.42 so if anyone can help it would be great thanks

i know that as well as u man, i do a bit of it myself, and ive played around with packets bfore, relating to cracking network passwords.
i was just putting it in there for people to see, cause some people are scared shitless of doing something if its illegal (but then why would they be on this site)

ya its not related to MAC Address but hopefully someone will figure out a way to unban it thru the console id as i believe thats how they're banned

this is true, the console Id is banned.(PsId)

Shadow hunters statement is correct.

showdow hunters method could possibly work, it means you have to packet edit though, and thats illegal pretty much werever u go. (correct me if im wrong there, i know something related to packet editing is illegal)
for this to work, you will have to capture the correct packet, find the location of the id, then using another unbanned if change it, then loop the packet so it will resend itself when it is called apon, but for all we know, the id might not always appear ion the same spot when being sent to the severs, id say sony have thought this through and have a solution to it, plus it will be encrypted too

They don't ban your MAC address, they ban your PS3's console ID.

Its encrypted and sent in packets whenever connecting to the PSN.
You can use wireshark or another packet capturing program to find it.
Basically its your PS3's "hidden" serial number - just like how xbox's are hard to unban without another xbox cpu id's.

Exactly. They refer to it as your "PSID" (not to be confused with PSN ID, your login info).

Your PSID is the identifier your PS3 sends out to Sony for them to have absolute authority (think of it as how much power your PC account at school has, and any administrator can slap it away just like that).

When your PS3 gets banned, they ban your PSID, not your MAC Address (similar to how Xbox bans Keyvaults).

edit: And in case anyone was interested, the PS3 hack scene does not have a hack to change this yet, and if they ever did, it might not be very effective (just like 360 KV's only last like 2 hours on a JTAG).

Alright to clear the Air here,
(Noobs Skip down to the bottom, I put it in noob terms)

The MAC ADDRESS is not banned, (common misconception).
What is banned is the Console Id (Referred to as PsId).

Search this part of the forum there is a topic made by me, with a screen shot, of the sony ban hammer from a Sony Csr pov.

Now onto how the ban works,
Basically when you login to the Psn Network, the packets that are sent are in the protocol SSL/TLS, Now do a google search and read up, now you should know that unless we find the cert that contains the private key, then we cannot decrypt the packets.
However as I could see in SHIVERS Psjailbreak review the Ps3 does have certs saved on it. But sometimes only the server contains the cert with the private key!

Now if we got the private key we could easyly decrypt the packets.

As for a MITM attack, We would need to be able to decrypt the packets and edit and re encrypt the packets on the fly, Also I do not think we could change the size of the packet, But if we were using it just to change one number in the PsId I think it would be fine!

_Not Happy or Sad_- For the NOOBS Not Happy or Sad_Not Happy or Sad_
Basically when you log into the psn, your ps3 calls up to the PSN and says hi my name (PsId) is so and so, and then the PSN calls back and says either yes you can come into my house (server) or no you cannot come into my house.
The reason we cannot change anything between the ps3 and the psn is because they use a encryption that we do not know!

If you didnt understand something let me know!
