Post: Patch groove so we can get back online with 3.41 (some of the PS3 groove devs are)
09-29-2010, 04:22 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); found this on another forum but apparently one of the PSgroove developers has his 3.41 patched to go online as do others

Can someone release it for everyone?

[19:17:17] <Mathieulh> it's easier to just get rid of the checks
[19:17:20] <Mathieulh> than patch the version
[19:17:32] <Mathieulh> that's if you want to get on the psn
[19:18:19] <Freeway> but no one does that
[19:18:26] <Freeway>
[19:18:35] <@PsWii60> get online from 3.41 ?
[19:18:45] <Freeway> yeah
[19:18:51] <Freeway> it can be patched
[19:18:56] <Freeway> but Mathieulh doesn't care
[19:18:57] <Mathieulh> I do... on my console xD

All they had to do to get this picture was have a JB ps3 then install a pkg file then update their ps3... So it can't be said that it's even real...

it is real

the devs know how to remove the psn checks from groove

same way people patched the backup in groove some people are able to disable psn checks

My point was that the picture doesn't prove it's real and yes you may have heard that they are adding support for lower firmware with psgroove and from my understanding the same could be done with higher firmwares.

Exactly. I'm not trying to call anyone a fake, but they could have easily proved it without a doubt by simply pressing (O) before taking that picture, so you could see the 'install package' option.

You have to understand that these guys are (rightfully) a bit pissed by the masses of children basically demanding the ability to play online with 'their' JB, which said kids had no part of creating. 'Proving' the possibility of going online could be setting a trap. Supplying info that would let the greedy masses either A) brick their console or B) actually go online and be met with action from sony, that could be the actual trap. Why? Because noone begging to go online will likely ever benefit the scene.

This is just a wild theory btw, for all I know they just like to flaunt the ability. You have to look at what you're getting yourself into though. Sony is basically on the warpath, and you want to make yourself a bigger target by going online?

ok got a little update fresh from the irc #ps3fw
[22:17] <darkne55_> math, how do you bypass the version checks. come on give us a hint
[22:17] <Mathieulh> not that I care though
[22:17] <Mathieulh> darkne55_ I told you I wouldn't help anyone do that
[22:17] <Mathieulh> the check is in the vsh
[22:17] <Mathieulh> first you need to dump vsh.self
[22:18] <Mathieulh> then you need to reverse to locate the check
[22:18] <Mathieulh> and finally you need to make a payload that patches it
[22:18] <Mathieulh> or to have a fself that does it
[22:18] <Mathieulh> either way it's not easy if you don't even know how to dump the vsh process
[22:18] <michal> do i need turnoff ps3 allways to start ps3break again on 1.0v ?
[22:19] <darkne55_> rytttt ill give it a shot lol
[22:19] <st0xar> how many games run with your setup?
[22:19] <EddiePS3> math how come u wont do it if u dont mind me asking
[22:19] <st0xar> all gamez?
[22:19] <AmRoD> darkne55_ - u got a better chance at learnign to fly :P
[22:19] <AmRoD> then figuring that out

so we need to take away version checks, version spoofing doesn't work.

If they release ANY sort of patch to be able to get back online...if anything they should not come out and tell everyone...it should be a secret thing...everyone just needs to keep their mouth shut and not go public with posting it on twitter and stuff...THATS how Sony finds out...if it was released JUST to these certain forums...it could be PMed to trust worthy people. It's common sense really

the problem with secret thing is only a few elite people get it and get to use it, elite people being people who did it themselves and others who are close to those people or people who end up paying money to get it

obviously good for the people who have it but what about the rest of the people?
