All you have to do is spoof the packets getting sent to Sony. Not sure, but it's possible that the packets are encrypted (If it's not getting sent via web requests). Though it's not impossible to decrypt them, and comparing the original with the older firmware and then just spoofing the packets, so that Sony's server thinks you're on the latest FW.
