Are game data files saved during backup? I am asking this because it might be easier to create a backup and restore it when changing a patch. This could be an alternative from having to use data transfer utility every time you want to change a patch.

Data Transfer Utility is the only way to move the patch without corrupting files at the momment

Not at the momment; Developer mode has been changed from Power + Eject to something else. Just find out how to enable it and pop goes the weasle

It was an overflow exploit. That is now patched. It has nothing to do with a startup sequence.
