Wouldn't doubt it, then again. He's a publicity whore. So he might just be saying it for the publicity.

I went to middle school with the kid i think he likes recognition but i don't think he's in it for the money just for his own interests. I mean he jailbroke the iphone and just accepted donations to keep his work going he didn't charge money for the jailbreak.
