I recently bought a ps3key, but i had firmware 3.50, so i couldn't downgrade my ps3. Then i updated to version 3.55 (so f*cking stupid) so i screwed myself. Because 10 hours after i updated a downgrade was released for ps3key./facepalm
Now i was asking myself if i buy a new internal HDD for ps3, wich has no firmware on it, can i replace my old HDD with firmware 3.55 for this blank one so i can update the new one with firmware 3.41 through the old fashion way? settings>system update via usb? Cause all the firmware's after 3.41 block this way to downgrade. But this new internal HDD has no firmware at all. (Seagate Momentus 5400.6 2,5 inch 500GB harddisk for PS3)
Does anyone has experience with this or knows that it works or that is doesn't work?

Your ps3 wont do any change at all at inserting new HDD
Your ps3.. It saves the FW into different places, not only in your HDD

So I guess you need to wait for 3.55 Downgrade or update at PS3Key

No it wont work, trust me if it did work EVERYONE would be hacking and SONY would of have patched it. The firmware saves on the PS3 (like a clock keeps ticking even though your turned it off in you PC)

The best thing to do is wait till they release a downgrade or buy a second PS3 and use that one for jailbreaking.

ps3 firmware is stored on another little thing inside it not the hdd!

Ok, i did not know that this was already been asked many times.
Thats too bad, i really got my hopes up for this one but i\ll just have to wait till someone releases a new downgrader.
