it took me nearly 1 hour i was just copying the update over and i couldnt even find the update cos sony removed it from their website and i finally got it but it wouldnt work
so what you have to do when you download the .pup is go to your usb make a folder called PS3 Then inside that called UPDATE Then paste the file in update (UPDATE AND PS3 are case sensitive even if you have uPDATE it will not work )
So hope this helped lol i couldnt find it and does anybody know if theres a new dns bypass cos i dont want to update yet

Go to Settings --> System Update --> Update via Internet and that should update your PS3, but you might need jailbreak to go online without updating, tbh I aint really smart on that kind of stuff.

i dont want to go straight to 3.55 only to 3.41 to jb my ps3 duhhh

um wow thats the dumbest thing ive heard all day do you not understand what the point of this pointless thread was and almost any fw before 3.41 should work in theory to jailbreak so why update to 3.41 if you dont have to some of the older fw have payloads that work for them

there is tons of tuts on this already on here. use search button

3.41 is the only jailbreakable firm ware so dont go shouting out you can do it on any fw

im pretty shure u just put patch on usb then go to update exept go to update via storage media instead or internet im not shure gl though

Ok you get the v3.41 patch and make Folders like this PS3 then UPDATE then copy v3.41 . Then go to ur ps3 plug usb in , and system update storage media

On your usb device, put the update file on PS3/UPDATE. Connect to ps3 and in xmb go to the game tab. Select the usb device and you should be able to run the update.
