RUMOR: Sony could (may) remotely disable all Jailbroken/hacked PS3's!

To date, Sony's response to the jailbreak has been limited to mandatory firmware updates and revoking PSN access to those that refuse to use official system software.

However, a report by Digital Foundry claims that Sony can take far more drastic measures. Even if you've never signed up for a PSN account, your console will communicate with Sony servers every time it boots up. That initial load process is used to upload error logs, download updates to the "What's New" module, and a list of recently-run applications, including any unauthorized backup manager software.

Sony has yet to ban any consoles for taking advantage of the jailbreak, but the terms and conditions of the PlayStation Network make it clear that Sony has the authority to carry them out. Thanks to the system's constant self-reporting feature, "the company even has the means to irrevocably disable your console should it so wish," rendering affected PS3 consoles unusable, online and off. But will Sony ever use such a drastic measure? And if so, how will the hacker scene retaliate?

Code:
fus01.ps3.update.playstation.net > Update Server (sys updates)
mercury.dl.playstation.net > What's new ads
nsx.np.dl.playstation.net > playstation store preview
nsx-e.np.dl.playstation.net > ads
(main file exchange connections)
us.np.stun.playstation.net > on boot initiates connection
ena.net.playstation.net > SSLv3 connection after above connection
dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net > secondary update attempt (could force updates)
auth.np.ac.playstation.net > SSLv3 authentication server
(destination servers)
service.playstation.net (has multiple IPs if only the ip address is blocked)
(Error Reporting)
creepo.ww.hl.playstation.net (uploads crash reports etc.)
Almost all connections cannot just be port blocked, the port will continue to increment until it connects, you have to block the entire domains. Also a big point is that ALL computers on your network need to have these blocked not just the PS3's MAC because if you are running a proxy for example to get patches, the computer you proxy to will just allow the connections right out to the open unless all local IPs are blocked from these sites as well.

It's too late now. When/if sony decides to take action against us, it's too late for us. If any of us have the CFW, JB, any of it. The system may have some account of a crash related to CFW, every time we try to load a Back up game and fail, that could be sent in a crash report to sony. We, as of yet do not know what is being sent exactly. I go to your house and tell you I am here to take out the trash and I do, but I also rob you. I didn't tell you what I was doing completely, just enough to assure you I am doing what I said I will. To be completely honest, I already have a plan to replace my system if I am banned, because if Sony does take action, they will get you some how.

My plan for getting un-banned.

We have a store here called ECT ECT, they sell second hand game items, systems, the works. Go buy a ps3, gut it, swap my ps3 guts with theirs, then bring it back saying yeah it doesn't do blah blah blah or whatever lie it will be. Now you have basically a new ps3, in your old shell, and your ps3 isn't banned Smile (Psn will be though) lol

If they do that then It wouldn't matter or just be like apple keep patching and then do not do anything about what people are doing -eg. what they are doing now.
If they were to ban / console ban / ip ban *(easiest thing ever to get around) it wouldn't stun anyone just enrage people to go out and get a xbox, making a system unplayable would mean here comes a roll of new xbox users, because xbox is now cheaper.

Very well said! :]

You're Goddamn Right
rumours fail, and sony will lose money if they render all the consoles useless. Sony sales have probably increased in the past week.

Bring it on

I also think they will lose sales, have more people not wanting to use the system, more problems with people talking about how they got banned, support systems flooded, and due to the easiness of this latest jailbreak TONS of consoles would be apart of it even if you are not using it for "backup" uses, I personally have no problem going out and buying the game. That is why I do not need to sit for 8 hours downloading a file.

I have been reading that post on psx scene, and it is very intesting!

They would have to ban hundreds of thousands of people anyways. I say they are bluffing!!
