  1. Plug your flashdrive into your PC, make a folder on it called "UPDATE" (yes, in caps)
  2. If you have a custom firmware on your PS3 already, then put the offical Sony firmware update in the "UPDATE" folder, and then install it on your system
  3. If you do not have a custom firmware and are currently running retail (official) v3.55 firmware on your system, put the custom Geohot firmware in the "UPDATE" folder
  4. Navigate to "settings" on your PS3
  5. Navigate to "system update" and then use "update via storage media"
  6. Make sure your flashdrive is plugged into your PS3; then just install the custom firmware from your USB flashdrive

If you hear nine or more beeps, then your PS3 shuts itself off - it worked.

Why is it still open? Maybe because I can actually make informative threads that are helpful to the majority of this community. Every person in this thread thanked me for making this detailed and noob friendly guide, then you come in (with your hunch, don't forget that) and instantly post that.

Seriously, people like you think I/my website is a fail because you're too ignorant of common sense. If you really have something against me, thats cute, but don't come in my threads and just act like a complete idiot. I'll make you wish you didn't make a reply like that. Mr. I'm-gonna-report-everything-TheEnd-posts-because-I'm-butthurt

Reported for flaming, since you want to play that game.

If your PS3 isnt detecting the Geohot on your USB...
1.Turn off your PS3 system.
2.Hold the power button it will turn on but do not release, continue holding till your PS3 shuts off.
3.Hold the power button again to turn it back on and when you hear 2 Consecutive beeps your PS3 will be in service mode and should detect the firmware.

Also make sure the folder in your USB is in this order
PS3 ---- UPDATE ---- PS3UPDAT
